Complexity & chaos theories, articles, links
The theories of chaos and complexity from science are being increasingly
applied to organisational and social life. Some of these ideas include
- Order leaps out of disorder and the Butterfly effect, large unpredictable
consequences flow from tiny, microscopic events in systems Chaos leads
to its twin science of complexity. Chaotic systems are complex. That
is, you cannot predict or describe their structure short of running
the whole program.

Michael Lissack
Some of his ideas include
-complexity research and complexity theory have demonstrable applications
which corporate managers can avail themselves of today
- developing a shared language based on the vocabulary of complexity
can have an important role in a management context
- rather than viewing management control as impossible, a different
kind of "control" is needed -- one that influences without force and
without guarantee of detail, but with confidence in patterns. The
use of the vocabulary of complexity theory to develop a shared language
among decision makers and important actors

Chaos ThinkSite
Given that Chaos is the science of all such "chaordic" systems......including
without a doubt the modern business enterprise, Chaos is thus the
science of organization...the "new" science of management. Our mission
is to translate the most powerful scientific theory of reality ever
known into a potent practice of profound change in that special corner
of the universe we know as the organization.

Complexity in Social
Systems
focuses on complexity in social systems. The theme has its origins
in work in the natural and physical sciences, notably in physics,
chemistry, evolutionary biology and mathematics. More recently, these
ideas have been applied in the domains of economics and strategic
management. Drawing on such developments, it explores the relevance
of the complex systems model to the practical problems confronting
organisations.
